Google vs. Blackle

Google search engine hits the top list in search engines on net. It is not easy to make a search engine more efficient than Google. But now Google itself has succeeded by getting into its next level. We can also say this as a next version of Google or an upgraded version of the traditional recognized form of Google search. Yes, I am happy to say that Google Search is also now available as Blackle search. I am sure this name will take you the way thinking of many in your minds. The effort was a joint effort from Google and Heap media who created Blackle. Thanks to Heap media to remind us all the necessity and importance of taking all the possible measures in our day to day lives to save energy.

So for your guesses of what it is, the answer is Blackle is a search engine powered by Google custom Search which is nothing but a power saving search engine. In fact I can understand the curiosity of the readers to know how it works, as it was the same for me when I heard about it the first time.

Blackle saves energy because the screen is predominantly black. "Image displayed is primarily a function of the user's colour settings and desktop graphics, as well as the colour and size of open application windows; a given monitor requires more power to display a white (or light) screen than a black (or dark) screen." Blogging gets powerful in net today. I am happy that Black Google was also brought to light by a blog posted in the year 2007 titled, Black Google Would Save 750 Megawatt-hours a Year. A theory was proposed that a black version of the Google search engine would save a fair bit of energy due to the popularity of the search engine. From then the skepticism of energy savings had arouse.

Google wrote on this as “We believe that there is value in the concept because even if the energy savings are small, they all add up. Secondly we feel that seeing Blackle every time we load our web browser reminds us that we need to keep taking small steps to save energy”.

So now what is our part in this is just to set Blackle as our home page. In this way every time we load our Internet browser we will save a little bit of energy. Remember every bit counts! In fact I believe that it will motivate some good souls to take even other measures on saving energy in their day to day life, some other to think about it and even some to realize for whom they didn’t.

The following quotes are given by Google to help spread this. I think it should/can be done by all of us.
Help us spread the word about Blackle by telling your friends and family to set it as their home page. If you have a blog then give us a mention. Or put the following text in your email signature: "Blackle.com - Saving energy one search at a time".
I am sure at least one of them is possible. I will prefer to use it in signature with significance. That sounds interesting for me. Because it will create a curiosity of the people reading it than when one starts speaking about it directly.

At the finish of my post I feel happy that I have given my readers something good for the day and I would be even happier when they participate. Because saving energy and environment is more important than saving wealth and money for our generations.

ANYTHING & EVERYTHING for SHOPPING

For all the readers, today ennix is happy to take you to the world of wikishopping. In particular i have been impressed with their ‘HOME AND GARDEN COLLECTION’. It may arise questions among some whether its so important to discuss about now. We have to remember that a house can be made as a good home only by us. A pleasant feel at your house is the first step of our home. No doubt that everybody likes our house this way. In spite of this there are people for whom their house keeping is their hobby whereas for some its their passion and for even some its their pride. Whatever it is, whoever it is, wikishopping could be a place for all types of customers and their expectations.

Why it is so special here, one reason could be the wide range of collections that they have which may be approximately more than 200,000,000 products. Yet other thing these products includes ranging from 1$ - 1100000$. Its also appreciable that we have classified sections for our convenience like for efficient Housewares , eminent Kitchen and Dining products, elegant Home finishings and more. When i say about these i can’t leave pen down without mentioning the Candelabras or wineglasses or Closets which i was mainly interested for. In fact wikishopping is also interesting in their bed and linen collection. The fact is wikishopping encourages its customers through branded products which make the new customers also to rely on them. We can find interesting brands like Burton, Fleur de Liss, Swatch, Lenox, Kalvin Klein, Milwaukee, Zig, Waterford and many more.

Wikishopping has realised that a house needs its exterior also to be beautiful because it is obvious that only the exterior beauty can please the guests coming to our house at the first sight. The gardening collection includes grills, Hedge trimmers, birdbaths and Flower bulbs. Last but not the least of this section for home makers is your domestic workshop tools. They have a good collection of all the tools including jaws, jointers, nails, hammers, house paints also. We may be skilful but without the right tools to work!!!..... Its very important that we ensure we have all of the basic tools in our home.

If you are looking to improve your house or looking to design your house or thinking to do these you are right reading this post from ennix, Wassup! get on to the links to find your home in the way you want to live in it.

DESTINATION DEFINED - 4m/4 D YOUTH

World Terrorism has made its show well successful in Mumbai, India on 26/11 said to be the biggest attack after 9/11 attack on USA in 2001 though it was planned for even worst of waht we had. Public and the people have been motivated more in India after the attacks which makes them feel they are helpless. There were lots of people, media, press, politicians, leaders talking on where we go from now????? Some wants to emphasis on 'ENOUGH IS ENOUGH'. It was exactly at the this crucial moment going in India, ennix had the chance of interacting with an indian national who is just one among the public. When it was said to him to feel free to say your opinion as an ordinary citizen in the country. His eyes sharpened and replied we are not ordinary citizens, we are the ones to select the person to lead us as for as the democratic system is concerned. But unfortunately as in practice neither the leaders nor the people remember it said the youth of the nation. Where do we go from here is the question coming from the most minds of the 1.2 billion going arund the country and knocking the doors of prime mister, home minister, defence minister, opposing party leaders, the left, the right, defence chiefs, intelligence bureaus and many other leaders and officials. Still this question is not invited by any door steps to give answers. It is well understood that the people lost their hope on their leaders sitting on the either sides of the parliment chairs. They fell that the 'satyameve jayate' meaning truth alone triumphs is itself becomes false when there is false alone prevailing in the states which is really true today. So at this stage the only option can be new leaders. It is very important to underline the before said words 'new leaders' which should not be mistaken for change in leaders among exsisting as the change in leaders can only bring the same devil in a different colour. Here he means devils as corruption, bribary, instability with the exsisting leaders those are the acts of internal terrors for development of any nation in particular for a big democratic system as in India. Then where can we get these new leaders from, can they be ones as the hand gloves of the existing parties or the underworld dons to whom the current politicians are coined with directly or indirectly. But probablity of the politically virgin leaders are very less says the young blood of future India. He refers the quotes said by the first primeminister that 'tommorrow's India lies in the hands of today's youth'. Infact Dr.Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, usually known as Dr.APJ Abdul kalam, the Missile Man of India one of the finest that India have ever produced who was also governed as the first citizen of India strongly emphasis on this and he takes atmost care to motivate the youger ones to build up India in the way to bring out the positive potentials scatterd in the motherland. Also the question arises whether it is possible for all the youth to leave their familiy and stepout for the country while their families are also the part of the society for which they have to work. We have to remeber that if an individual is good his house will be good, if his house is good so the street, so the town or city and so the state, atlast obviously the country. Also we have to admit the fact that all youth who feels the responsiblity cannot react directly for which it really requires certain maturity and caliber to do, to face and to handle time and tides that too when it concerns for a massive system like India. Infact this has been the biggest advantage for the politicians today whereas biggest drawback for the country. So this young gentleman asks or suggets or calls the senior as well as experienced persons of the society to take the lead in a democratic way which is nothing but to step into elections. He supports his opinion to be successful in action because it is very well known that India has a lot of responsilbe, efficient, eligible persons hiding in the society and it is revealed today as a result of the attacks on Mumbai. When it was asked how to identify these people or where do are these people in the society he makes his suggestion more specific to retired IAS officers, public servants, Professors, bussinessmen, judges as some examples. Ofcourse it really doesnt needs more money to do campaigns if you are only going to make campaigns with the public. But for sure there will be threats or some indirect pressure before or even after elections but in anycase no need to worry as the youth and all general public supports you adds the young chap.

Well it is pretty much clear with the situation going in India that everyone needs THE CHANGE the change of leaders, the change of attitudes, the change of thinking, the change for peace, the change of struugle, the change for poverty, the change for real secularism without political intentions, the change of selfishness, the change of actions.

"So it is now the time for the right persons to go for their right to be in the right positions when you have the support of right people. With all these rights, the sentence should only become right when we dont find any wrong there. Lets work to estabilish the right things at right time".

Less wrong more right, no wrong all right. Work for the later so atleast to ensure the former.

Ancient city and Excavations of Pompeii

Once again ennix is now with a new and interesting article for its readers. This time its about one of the famous and very ancient archaelogical monument of the world, Pompeii,Italy.

The most important feature of this article is the photos of pompeii which are quite new to internet. Check out those photos through the link while reading the article. njoi looking at the photos!!!!!

Pompeii is one of the most important name in the pages of history of Italy. Pompei is an very old town in south of Italy in the region of Napoli near Naples which takes us to 7th century BC at which it is believed to have its first settlement probably. The gens Pompeia, who gave the name to the ancient city, was of Oscan origins. Pompeii is a ruined and partially buried Roman city near modern Naples in the Italian region of Campania, in the territory of the comune of Pompei. It, along with its sister city Herculaneum, was destroyed, and completely buried, during a catastrophic eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius spanning two days on 24 August 79 AD.

The volcano collapsed higher roof-lines and buried Pompeii under many meters of ash and pumice, and it was lost for nearly 1700 years before its accidental rediscovery in 1748. Since then, its excavation has provided an extraordinarily detailed insight into the life of a city at the height of the Roman Empire. Today, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Italy and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The ruins of Pompeii are situated at coordinates near the modern suburban town of Pompei. It stands on a spur formed by a lava flow to the north of the mouth of the Sarno River in ancient times known as the Sarnus. Today it is some distance inland, but in ancient times it is said that it would have been nearer to the coast.

Pompeii and other cities affected by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. The black cloud represents the general distribution of ash and cinder. Modern coast lines are shown.
The archaeological digs takes us back to 79 AD volcanic event; deeper digs in older parts of Pompeii and core samples of nearby drillings have shown us different jumbled sediment that suggest that the city had suffered from the volcano and other seismic events before then. To be more precise three sheets of sediment have been found on top of the lava bedrock that lies below the city and, mixed in with the sediment, archaeologists have found bits of animal bone, pottery shards and plants. some of the snaps!

According to carbon dating, the oldest layer has been dated to the 8th-6th centuries BC, about the time that the city was founded. The other two layers are separated from the other layers by well-developed soil layers or Roman pavement and were laid in the 4th century BC and 2nd century BC. The theory behind the layers of jumbled sediment is large landslides, perhaps triggered by extended rainfall.

The town was founded around the 7th-6th century BC by the Osci or Oscans, a people of central Italy, on what was an important crossroad between Cumae, Nola and Stabiae. It has been a safe port for Greek and Phoenician sailors. According to Strabo, Pompeii was also captured by the Etruscans, and in fact recent excavations have shown the presence of Etruscan inscriptions and a 6th century necropolis. Pompeii was captured a first time by the Greek colony of Cumae, allied with Syracuse, between 525 and 474 BC.

In the 5th century BC, the Samnites conquered it (and all the other towns of Campania); the new rulers imposed their architecture and enlarged the town. After the Samnite Wars (4th century), Pompeii was forced to accept the status of socium of Rome, maintaining however linguistic and administrative autonomy. In the 4th century BC it was fortified. Pompeii remained faithful to Rome during the Second Punic War.
Pompeii took part in the war that the towns of Campania initiated against Rome, but in 89 BC it was besieged by Sulla. Although the troops of the Social League, headed by Lucius Cluentius, helped in resisting the Romans, in 80 BC Pompeii was forced to surrender after the conquest of Nola. It became a Roman colony with the name of Colonia Cornelia Veneria Pompeianorum. The town became an important passage for goods that arrived by sea and had to be sent toward Rome or Southern Italy along the nearby Appian Way. Also agriculture, oil and wine production was important.

The excavated town offers a snapshot of Roman life in the 1st century, frozen at the moment it was buried on 24 August 79. The Forum, the baths, many houses, and some out-of-town villas like the Villa of the Mysteries remain surprisingly well preserved.Pompeii was a lively place, and evidence abounds of literally the smallest details of everyday life. For example, on the floor of one of the houses (Sirico's), a famous inscription Salve, lucru (Welcome, money), perhaps humorously intended, shows us a trading company owned by two partners, Sirico and Nummianus (but this could be a nickname, since nummus means coin, money). In other houses, details abound concerning professions and categories, such as for the "laundry" workers (Fullones). Wine jars have been found bearing what is apparently the world's earliest known marketing pun, Vesuvinum (combining Vesuvius and the Latin for wine, vinum). Graffiti carved on the walls shows us real street Latin (Vulgar Latin, a different dialect than the literary or classical Latin). In 89 BC, after the final occupation of the city by Roman General Lucius Cornelius Sulla, Pompeii was finally annexed to the Roman Republic. During this period, Pompeii underwent a vast process of infrastructural development, most of which was built during the Augustan period. Worth noting are an amphitheatre, a Palaestra with a central natatorium or swimming pool, and an aqueduct that provided water for more than 25 street fountains, at least four public baths, and a large number of private houses (domus) and businesses. The amphitheatre has been cited by modern scholars as a model of sophisticated design particularly in the area of crowd control.[3] The aqueduct branched out through three main pipes from the Castellum Aquae, where the waters were collected before being distributed to the city; although it did much more than distribute the waters, it did so with the prerequisite that in the case of extreme drought, the water supply would first fail to reach the public baths (the least vital service), then private houses and businesses, and when there would be no water flow at all, the system would then at last fail to supply the public fountains (the most vital service) in the streets of Pompeii.find more snaps here!!

At the time of the eruption, the town could have had some 20,000 inhabitants, and was located in an area in which Romans had their holiday villas. Prof. William Abbott explains, "At the time of the eruption, Pompeii had reached its high point in society as many Romans frequently visited Pompeii on vacations." It is the only ancient town of which the whole topographic structure is known precisely as it was, with no later modifications or additions. It was not distributed on a regular plan as we are used to seeing in Roman towns, due to the difficult terrain. But its streets are straight and laid out in a grid, in the purest Roman tradition; they are laid with polygonal stones, and have houses and shops on both sides of the street. It followed its decumanus and its cardo, centered on the forum.

Besides the forum, many other services were found which again ensures the great lifestyle of the Romans centuries back. The Macellum (great food market), the Pistrinum (mill), the Thermopolium (sort of bar that served cold and hot beverages), and cauponae (small restaurants). An amphitheatre and two theatres have been found, along with a palaestra or gymnasium. A hotel (of 1,000 square metres) was found a short distance from the town; it is now nicknamed the "Grand Hotel Murecine".
In 2002 another important discovery at the mouth of the Sarno River revealed that the port also was populated and that people lived in palafittes, within a system of channels that suggested a likeness to Venice to some scientists. These studies are just beginning to produce results.

The inhabitants of Pompeii, as those of the area today, had long been used to minor tremors (indeed, the writer Pliny the Younger wrote that earth tremors "were not particularly alarming because they are frequent in Campania"), but on 5 February 62, there was a severe earthquake which did considerable damage around the bay and particularly to Pompeii. The earthquake, which took place on the afternoon of the 5th, is believed to have registered over 7.5 on the Richter scale. On 5 February in Pompeii there were to be two sacrifices, as it was the anniversary of Augustus being named "Father of the Nation" and also a feast day to honour the guardian spirits of the city. Chaos followed the earthquake. Fires, caused by oil lamps that had fallen during the quake, added to the panic. Nearby cities of Herculaneum and Nuceria were also affected. Temples, houses, bridges, and roads were destroyed. It is believed that almost all buildings in the city of Pompeii were affected. In the days after the earthquake, anarchy ruled the city, where theft and starvation plagued the survivors. In the time between 62 and the eruption in 79, some rebuilding was done, but some of the damage had still not been repaired at the time of the eruption. It is unknown how many people left the city after the earthquake, but a considerable number did indeed leave the devastation behind and move to other cities within the Roman Empire. Those willing to rebuild and take their chances in their beloved city moved back and began the long process of reviving the city.

An important field of current research concerns structures that were being restored at the time of the eruption (presumably damaged during the earthquake of 62). Some of the older, damaged, paintings could have been covered with newer ones, and modern instruments are being used to catch a glimpse of the long hidden frescoes. The probable reason why these structures were still being repaired around 17 years after the earthquake was the increasing frequency of smaller quakes that led up to the eruption.even more available!!!

The depiction of the Temple of Jupiter, facing the forum, and the Temple of Apollo, across the portico to the left, are nonetheless inaccurate, and the shown state of the porticoes around the forum is also at least questionable, as they all appear intact during this recreation of the 79 eruption; it is widely known that at least the Temples of Jupiter and Apollo had been destroyed 17 years before, during the 62 earthquake, and that they had not been rebuilt by the time the city was finally destroyed in the 79 eruption

By the 1st century, Pompeii was one of a number of towns located around the base of Mount Vesuvius. The area had a substantial population which grew prosperous from the region's renowned agricultural fertility. Many of Pompeii's neighbouring communities, most famously Herculaneum, also suffered damage or destruction during the 79 eruption. The people of Pompeii were covered in up to twelve different layers of soil. Pliny the Younger provides a first-hand account of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius from his position across the Bay of Naples at Misenum (although he has been criticised by many historians because his version was written 25 years after the event).

"Garden of the Fugitives". Some plaster casts of victims of the eruption still in actual Pompeii; many are in the Archaeological Museum of Naples. (Casts can also be found, amongst other places, near the forum, inside the baths, and at the Villa of the Mysteries.)

After thick layers of ash covered the two towns, they were abandoned and eventually their names and locations were forgotten. Then Herculaneum was rediscovered in 1738 by workmen working on the foundation of a summer palace for the King of Naples, Charles of Bourbon, and Pompeii in 1748. These towns have since been excavated to reveal many intact buildings and wall paintings. The towns were actually found in 1599 by Domenico Fontana, who was digging a new course for the river Sarno, but it took more than 150 years before a serious campaign was started to unearth them. Charles III took great interest in the findings even after becoming king of Spain.
Karl Weber directed the first real excavations and he was followed in 1764 by the military engineer, Franscisco la Vega. Franscisco la Vega was succeeded by his brother, Pietro, in 1804. During the French occupation Pietro worked with Christophe Saliceti.

Giuseppe Fiorelli took charge of the excavations in 1860. During early excavations of the site, occasional voids in the ash layer had been found that contained human remains. It was Fiorelli who realised these were spaces left by the decomposed bodies and so devised the technique of injecting plaster into them to perfectly recreate the forms of Vesuvius's victims. What resulted were highly accurate and eerie forms of the doomed Pompeiani who failed to escape, in their last moment of life, with the expression of terror often quite clearly visible. This technique is still in use today, with resin now used instead of plaster because it is more durable. Some have theorized that Fontana found some of the famous erotic frescoes and, due to the strict modesty prevalent during his time, reburied them in an attempt at archaeological censorship. This view is bolstered by reports of later excavators who felt that sites they were working on had already been visited and reburied.last but not d least!!!!
Hope you njoid reading and knowing about an interesting treasure of history.
